Man as Machine
Found this photo yesterday. Check it out … isn’t it perfect that his sweater is the same color as the Mercedes behind him? Think about it – ultimately he’s accomplishing the same thing as that car … moving from A to B.
The difference is in who is doing the work. An engine powers the car, and the cyclist powers the bike. That’s why I am endlessly drawn to cycling. You are in total control. You are the ultimate driving force.
Every pedal stroke and every inch of asphalt covered is yours … don’t ever give that away. Don’t waste those precious miles in a car when you could savor each one yourself …

STOP TWEETING and get on your bike!
Winter? ‘Bout time – Now let’s deliver some packages!

Ok, several people have asked me if we are still open in the cold, sleet, snow. So let me address this …
Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Of course.
So how do we prepare? Well, first of all, everyone who rides for us must first train for 6 weeks as a bicycle courier in Alaska with Kirk Dungan, leader of the local courier’s union in Anchorage (because he is the only courier in that town).
So anyway, this “winterizing” consists of several things …
1) how to dethaw a frozen bicycle (hint, put it between your legs)
2) how to ride in 3 feet of snow
3) how to get around a polar bear blocking the road
4) how to ride an ice bicycle (see picture below)
… those are the only tips we can give away. For the rest of our tips, you can purchase our full winterizing guide entitled: “A HOW TO: I’m so cold that I can’t move my face, but I still want to ride my bike. What do I do?”
