Mega kudos to Devan Council, Keith Gallagher and friends for putting together this forum for all things cycling in Nashville. It’s cool, and useful, and has already helped recover at least one stolen bicycle. Sharing is good.
The forum is great because cycling at its best is a community endeavor. It’s like having coffee with friends. You like the coffee, but you love the friends. Check out the forum …

I’m sitting at Fido catching up on some Green Fleet work, and a kid comes over rubbing his hands together like he’s up to something.
“Excuse me sir, would you like to play scrabble?” He raises his eyebrows with anticipation and waits for my response …
What do I do? I love his excitement, but to be honest I don’t want to play scrabble right now. But then again, the poor kid desperately needs another player. His friends have decided to play in groups of two, and he’s the odd man out.
This kind of thing happens to you when you decide to use a coffee shop as your office. Like the time a girl spilled her drink all over me because her 3x too big purse made her lose her balance. I love it when people come into my bubble without apologizing. It keeps you on your toes.
“I’m really sorry. I can’t play right now. But keep it up. Ask that girl over there.” I pointed to a pretty girl studying in the corner. He takes my advice and heads her way nervously … game time.
I wish I could tell you that she took him up on his offer, they had a great time, they fell in love, etc. She turned him down too.
Kid didn’t give up though. He just kept asking. Shameless. Brave.
Now he has a partner and is sitting beside her grinning like a champ. Not sure how the game is turning out, but he definitely won tonight. Keep up the fight.
